BigCommerce Rebrands as Commerce.com: Embracing the AI-Driven Future
On July 31, BigCommerce Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: BIGC) announced its rebrand to Commerce.com, Inc., signaling a bold shift toward a unified, AI-powered commerce ecosystem. Starting August 1, 2025, the company will trade under the new ticker symbol CMRC on Nasdaq.
Why It Matters
This rebrand isn’t just cosmetic. It consolidates three major business units—BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift—under a single parent brand, reflecting the company’s vision for “agentic commerce”, where AI agents research, recommend, and even complete purchases on behalf of consumers. Similar to MEGACORPS like Meta And Google’s Alphabet, Commerce is now the umbrella corp for several different E-Commerce and Web Development related brands.
What Each Brand Does Under the Commerce Umbrella
- BigCommerce remains the scalable ecommerce platform, now serving as the engine for agile, AI-ready backend systems.
- Feedonomics focuses on optimizing product data for discoverability across global—especially AI-driven—channels.
- Makeswift delivers visual, no-code storefront design tools for personalized customer experiences.
Together, they form an open, flexible commerce ecosystem.
Leadership Speaks
CEO Travis Hess emphasized the rebrand is far more than a name change—it’s a strategic declaration of innovation and leadership in the AI commerce era. Read Hess’ Full Statement Here
