Colorado has a huge live music scene, from Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Mission Ballroom to hundreds of smaller venues across the state. Live Music Forecast brings those shows together in one place and delivers the ones worth knowing about directly to fans.
The Challenge
There isn’t one reliable place to find every concert happening in Colorado.
Venues maintain their own calendars, events are spread across different ticketing platforms, and smaller venues often announce shows primarily through social media. Keeping track of everything means checking multiple sites, and it’s easy to discover a show only after it’s already happened.
The goal was to build a single source for live music across Colorado that could stay current without relying on someone manually entering and maintaining thousands of events.
The Solution
Automated Event Collection
Live Music Forecast is built on WordPress and aggregates events from ticketing platforms, venue calendars, and other sources using third-party APIs and custom web scrapers.
Events from each source are normalized into a common format before being published. New concerts can be added automatically, while schedule changes and cancellations are picked up as the source data changes. The result is a large event database that requires minimal manual maintenance.
Built for Discovery
Rather than treating concerts as isolated listings, the site connects events with artists, venues, cities, and dates. That makes the event data useful as a directory rather than just another calendar.
Fans can browse upcoming shows by venue, artist, city, or date. Venue pages include practical information such as parking, bag policies, accessibility, and age restrictions, while artist pages bring together every upcoming Colorado appearance in one place.
Daily, monthly, and yearly calendars make it easy to plan ahead, while the Today’s Music page answers the simpler question: what can I go see tonight?
The Live Music Digest
The Live Music Digest turns the site’s event database into a weekly email highlighting upcoming concerts across Colorado.
Instead of sending subscribers a giant list of events, the digest is designed to surface interesting shows and make it easy to find something worth seeing without searching through venue calendars every week.
Community-Powered Information
Registered users can review venues and suggest corrections when information changes or something was missed.
Those contributions help improve the underlying directory while building useful venue information that traditional ticketing platforms typically don’t provide.
Designed to Be Sustainable
Live Music Forecast was built with a business model alongside the product.
Revenue comes from display advertising, affiliate ticket links, and paid promotional opportunities for venues and event organizers, including sponsored shows and placements.
